Do713.com is a new events web site launching this weekend at the Caroline Collective Saturday the 15th from 7 to 10 PM. Come and try out the new site while using some of the latest production Recomputes. See you there!
Going to have some production Recomputes out at the Technology Bytes Geek Gathering at the Coffee Groundz Friday nigh May 7 @ 7:30.
If you haven’t had a chance to come out and play with a Recompute yet here is your chance.
The very first Recomputes will be available for public sale April 23-25 at the Lawndale Design Fair 2010, in Houston, Texas. Not only is this the opportunity to purchase the very first Recomputes ever, but these machines will be one of a kind made exclusively for this event. These special edition Recomputes have specialized hardware configurations as well as custom artwork by graphic designer Tom So! Right now we are putting the finishing touches on these machines to get them ready for the fair. Here are some pictures of the main bodies. See you at the fair!

Recompute bodies ready for assembly
The Museum of Industrial Archaeology and Textile or MIAT in Belgium has receved a Recompute to be part of their permanent collection. The new exhibit titled ‘WorldWideWork’ focuses on the evolution of the industrial age and a “glance into the future.” So if you are out and about in Belgium stop in the MIAT and have a look around.

Sorry for the delay on the specs of all the models. Just wanted to be as accurate as possible…
As of this week Recompute has officially gone into production! Currently we are setting up our assembly facility and we should see the first batch of parts in a few weeks, which means the first finished machines should follow in the coming month.

For those of you who are on the waiting list, your orders will be honored first and then machines will be built per order. However due to the overwhelming interest in Recompute, it has been decided to offer multiple models and options for all the different kinds of users out there.
Check out the anticipated models and versions of Recompute on the updated specs page
We will keep you posted on the manufacturing progress, as there is still a good bit of work to do. Hopefully some video and pictures too. Also a new and improved site should be up as well. It has been a lot of work to get here, so thanks to everyone for all of your patience and support!
Just got interviewed by the Business Makers Show!
Just click the link above to listen to the whole interview. In other news the engineer and producer of the business show John Whiteside got a chance to use a Recompute for a few days of recording and editing. His feedback was quite posotive. There should be a complete reveiw soon
Finally for those who are still wondering about production, it’s happening, it is just taking longer than anticipated. Also for those on the waiting list you are the first ones in line… So don’t fret you will have a Recompute of your own very soon.

Recompute was asked to be the host computer for a few Windows 7 parties happening this Thursday the 22nd!
The first is at the Coffee Groundz the second is with Robb Zipp from Robbzipp.net.
This is your chance to see both Recompute and Windows 7 running together
We will be documenting both parties, so there should be some photos up soon.
Just a quick reminder to get on the waiting list to get one of the initial releases of the Recompute DIY kit coming out during the holiday season.
The Houston Chronicle just printed a feature about Recompute!!! Here it is
A Recompute will be on display a the l’objet du Design” exhibition in Saint-Etienne, France
from October 1 2008 to the end of February 2009. Below is a better description of the exhibit.
“Frederic Lecourt and Antoine Fenoglio, the two designers of the Sismo design agency are in charge of curating the exhibition “l’objet du design”. The aim is to show the various ways to innovation through design. Based on their work method the exhibition we be divided into 4 different complementary areas which illustrate how the designer can deal with he creation of objects, how he can work in collaboration with clients, how to reach the clients and customers expectations and satisfaction. With his exhibition they tend to illustrate and explain what the designer’s work may imply.
These 4 areas enable visitors to understand how various results can be depending on what option the designer chooses: to materialise habits, to formalize intentions, to contribute to social evolutions, to get hold of techniques. In each area there will be different contemporary objects referring to different contexts and situations (public or private, usual or unusual…) that will illustrate each of these options and the whole process a designer goes through.
They chose the Recompute computer because they find this project interesting and because they thought it would be interesting to include it to the « get hold of the techniques » area. Indeed in this area of the exhibition will be shown different objects (such as chairs, packaging, technical objects, moto helmets…) which focus on having the smaller impact on environment as possible, which tend to be as environmentally friendly as possible…” Pauline Dorson
